In 1998, I was appointed a Jazz Ambassador for the United States Information Agency (USIA). Under the auspices of this program, myself and Rick Condit (saxophone) toured five countries in Africa performing as a jazz duo. Below is a few items from my travel diary on this 5-week tour. It was a tremendous opportunity for us - and Rick is not only a fabulous musician, but a great friend. That alone makes travel easy
